1. Gone Home
Portland. It's June 7, 1995. After a year of living abroad, the game's main character, 21-year-old girl Katie Greenbriar, finally returns home, waiting for a warm welcome from her family. But somehow, she finds that there is no one in the house! Where is everyone? What happened here? This will be seen in Gone Home - a unique adventure game.
This game is an interactive investigation. You will need to analyse the details of the most ordinary-looking house, learn the history of the people living here. The primary task is to reveal the mystery of what happened, using everything that is possible, as the house has a lot of interactive elements, which allows you to interact with the environment entirely.
Surprisingly, simple movements create an atmosphere of almost inhabited home, as well as expertly crafted light and sound. Each piece of paper breathes history, and it is stunningly believable in both form and content.
2. Little Nightmares
Heavily inspired by Limbo and Inside, Little Nightmares are telling a story of another lost child. Six is a starving little girl in a yellow raincoat, which is trapped in a mysterious vessel named the Maw. Players are taking control of Six’s movement, in order to help her escape the ship and dangerous inhabitants, that’s been kidnaping and preparing children to be served as a feast for the Guests.
The control scheme is not including any combat moves, leaving players defenseless against any threat. The game gives players the ability to carry a lighted match at any time, inviting players to explore and search for the collectible statues.
Little Nightmares have 3 DLC levels, expanding the game beyond the perspective of Six, where the Runaway Kid, a young boy, who is trying to catch up to Six and having his own adventure, going through the Maw in the extra chapters, named “The Depths”, “The Hideaway” and “The Residence.”
3. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is a story-driven action-RPG based on table-top role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade, the part of the World of Darkness franchise. The game is setting a gothic urban fantasy where vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural beings live secretly by humans. The story follows the player character that gets turned into the vampire and becomes a member of Camarilla – a considerable vampire organization that tries to keep vampires’ existence in secret from ordinary people. It confronts Sabbat, an organization whose member believe that Vampires should let their inner beasts go wild no matter of people’s awareness.
The gameplay’s primary emphasis is variety in player’s action. The same goals can be achieved in several ways. Depending on the character’s abilities and clan affiliation, it can intimidate, seduce or convince NPC’s with words, use brute force or sneak in the shadows without being noticed. There are seven unique vampire clans from which player creates his character. They have different skills, supernatural powers, appearance, characteristics. Some of them affect gameplay in its unique way, e.g., vampires from Nosferatu clan are so deformed that they cannot be seen by ordinary people, forcing the player to rely on stealth and brute force rather than communication.
Virginia is a silent game that offers the player to become an FBI detective and solve a mystery. It was inspired by supernatural thrillers like Twin Peaks and X-Files.
As its name suggests, the game is set in Virginia, in a fictional country town called Kingdom. A small boy named Lucas Fairfax disappeared recently. The main protagonist, a young and inexperienced FBI agent Anne Tarver, has to uncover the mystery and find the child. Since she lacks the necessary experience, Tarver is accompanied by a higher ranking agent Maria Halperin. The two don't trust each other, but they have to overcome their differences and work together.
Virginia's gameplay is similar to interactive movies and "walking simulators." The player controls Anne and travels around the city, accompanied by Halperin, to find clues and learn more about what's going on in the city. The player has no actual control over the actions of the protagonist. Instead, he or she can only navigate Tarver over the city and then watch her act. The game is very short, and two hours is usually enough to complete it.
The game is made in an intentionally low-poly visual style. There are no dialogues, neither in subtitles nor voice acting. The player can only understand the narrative through the facial expressions and body language of the characters, as well as the other clues.
5. Quantum Conundrum
Quantum Conundrum is a first-person puzzle-solving game developed by Airtight Games. The director of the game, Kim Swift, was a lead designer of a game called Portal.

The scientist can't get out of a pocket dimension and the house you were staying in is now shattered across four dimensions with different properties. You have to get everything back together.
The player is able to run, jump and interact with several in-game objects. It is possible to die from hazardous liquids, bottomless pits, falling down from a great height or getting killed by lasers. The levels in the game are represented as the rooms of the house. The objective of each level is to find the exit door and get to it.
The players can manipulate the rooms traversing through the dimensions. Each dimension has its own physics. For example, in the Fluffy dimension, the objects are much lighter than normal. Players can access only one dimension at a time.
6. This Is the Police 2
Interpret the law as you see fit in This Is the Police 2, sequel to the acclaimed noir drama This Is the Police! Run the sheriff’s department, manage your cops, investigate, interrogate, and incarcerate. Make tough decisions – and try to keep out of prison yourself! – in this story-driven mixture of adventure, strategy, and turn-based tactical combat.
Is it a simulation? A management game? A tactical challenge? A visual novel? A puzzle? It’s all of these, and more!Dive into one-of-a-kind -story driven experience.Welcome to Sharpwood, a cold and harsh border town riven with violence, where no one is completely innocent. Smugglers, gangs, and screaming populists call this town their home. To maintain peace and order, the young sheriff Lilly Reed (Sarah Hamilton, The Longest Journey) will have to team up with fugitive criminal Jack Boyd (Jon St. John, Duke Nukem), and pray that her dangerous plan doesn’t spiral out of control.
Take charge of the Sheriff’s department.Your subordinates aren’t just some resource; they are living people with their own strengths, weaknesses, fears and prejudices – and you'll have to reckon with all of them in order to survive. NaissanceE is a first person exploration PC game developed on UDK by Limasse Five with the participation of Pauline Oliveros, Patricia Dallio and Thierry Zaboitzeff.
The adventure takes place in a primitive mysterious structure and the game mainly consists to explore and feel the deep and strong ambiance of this atemporal world but platforming and puzzles areas will also enrich the experience.
NaissanceE is a game, a philosophical trip and an artistic experience.
The game is constructed along a linear path punctuated by more open areas to freely explore, some puzzles to solves and some more experimental sequences.
Going deeper and deeper in a primitive zone from “Naissance” world, the player will meet entities or mechanical systems. Whether those entities are life forms or pure machines, they react to player presence, to light and shadow and they may open access to the following.
If most parts of the journey will require only curiosity and logic, a good control and coordination on running, breathing and jumping actions will help to go through rare but exigent sequences, as an homage to old school die an retry games.
The main idea behind the game is to make the player appreciate the loneliness, the feeling to be lost in a gigantic unknown universe and to be marvelled by the beauty of this world. A world which seems to be alive, leading the player, manipulating him and playing with him for any reason.
Imagination is an important key to enjoy and understand NaissanceE. Walking in an undiscovered abstract structure brings questions about the nature of this world, about the meaning of this trip. Evocating and symbolic, the architecture and events will lead player’s imagination to find an answer, if it only matters.
Warning! This game is not recommended for people with epilepsy.

47. Big Drunk Satanic Massacre
Big Drunk Satanic Massacre is basically a shooter with strong RPG elements.
Not that rocket propelled gun though. The game itself takes place in Hell where the main hero, Lou, is to find a booze and rescue most hot Mistress from the clutches of a fat clown. The game consists of four levels / chapters representing different areas of Hell, such as the hellish Big Wack fastfood cafe, Skeletons Slums and the Red Lights District. The idea behind those sub levels is to kill specific Boss. Each Boss represent unique multi stage fight and it is pretty challenging.
The player has to choose between six weapons and one magical ability. The main feature of the game is that Lou is healed by booze. The more he drinks the more his blood alcohol level increases, which is sorta good fot him. As a result there may be either negative or positive effects.
Ever wondered what it's like to be Satan's son? Nothing special... Unleashed lust, chronic alcoholism and reckless shooting - the usual routine.
Save Hell! Wait... What? Yup, that's right - Hell! It's not the place it used to be - Hell's been possessed. Possessed by the most vile dark hideous evil the world has known - people. They've turned your precious homeland into a madhouse, and only you can stop them!

48. The Works of Mercy
'The Works of Mercy' is a psychological thriller inspired by the classics of the genre: Roman Polanski’s 'Repulsion,' 'The Tenant' and Stanley Kubrick’s 'The Shining.' The game’s plot revolves around mysterious killings committed on seemingly random victims. Only this time it’s the player who becomes the murderer.
'The Works of Mercy' tells a story of a personal tragedy and wrecked psyche. When a cryptic tormentor forces the protagonist to kill people in order to save his family, the game’s hero (and the player) is posed with a series of dramatic questions. Who is the tormentor? Why is he so vengeful toward the protagonist’s family? How far do you have to go to satisfy him? How can you justify the killing in the sake of saving someone’s life? And how will you cope with the sense of guilt?
'The Works of Mercy' takes place in a photorealistic world as immersive as the real one. It lets the player get the very feel of roaming through murky locations and delve into the hero’s mind which is put to a serious trial. The game enables you to explore a fully interactive environment featuring the best elements of such games as 'Gone Home' or 'P.T.'
'The Works of Mercy' will leave the gamers with a lasting impression and face them with the question: how much could I sacrifice for my family? It will take the players through a dark world which gradually dissolves to an increasingly surreal vision of the protagonist’s mind captured in a lethal trap.
'The player is given various controversial missions which don't must be completed to progress through the story line but then you will take the consequences and your world will turn into a horror. You have to think a lot what you are saying and doing because somebody can die even if you don't want it. It's not easy but there is a place for outsmart your tormentor. It all depends on your perceptiveness and creativity. You decide who you want to be and what you want to do. It's great because you can play the game many times to check what will happen if you do something differently than previously. In that case the game isn't linear and has different endings. You describe the actions of your character rather than acting him out. For example, during interactive dialogues. The game gives you a lot of freedom and impact on the story.'
