3. Shadow Warrior (2013)
Shadow Warrior 2013 is a reboot of 1997 game with the same name on it, Shadow Warrior. Setup is pretty simple - Lo Wang, our protagonist in a very specific quest. He is a hired assassin with a mission. He has to buy a very ancient katana with powers to kill immortals. When arrives at the place of the deal, everything turns in quite a disaster. Demons attack and slay everything in its path and Lo Wang decides to cooperate with them in order to bound three swords into one, making this very old and ancient katana a real and unstoppable force.
Even though games setup is in modern days, it's been very firmly connected with old Asian mythology. Shadow Realm is filled with some very famous Asian demons that play key parts in a plot. Defeating hordes of demons is quite fun as you have plenty of ways to do so. Wang can shoot his enemies with weapons like pistols, submachine guns or even rocket launchers (some of this weapon can be dual-wielded) or slash them with your katana. High dependent on controls and patterns can create some unique attacks, and makes killing your enemies a very fun occupation.
A person from our time experiences visions of the past - and thinks he is sick. Medications do not help, he turns to the shaman. The shaman understands what is going on and talks about the battle that happened 30,000 years ago. The battle between the great hero and the two Sisters of Chaos. One of the Sisters controlled the Light of the Sun, and the other - the Darkness of the Moon. The sisters lost the battle, and the hero imprisoned them. The shaman sees that a person with visions is an incarnation of the hero, and visions can mean that the Sisters managed to escape from prison. Now the hero has to fight the Sisters again.
The path to the Sisters lies through several areas. Each area is protected by a Protector. Protectors were independent, but now they are bribed by Chaos and serve Chaos.
There are numerous and different beings born from the energies of Light, Darkness or others. These creatures are trying to block the path of the hero. The gameplay arises as the use of the energies of Light and Darkness. The energies of Light are deadly to the creatures of Darkness and vice versa. The game ends when the Sisters are again defeated and will see the beauty of the world and stop wanting to destroy it.
Strider is a platforming hack and slash game developed by Double Helix Games. The game is a reboot of 1989 title, yet the developers didn't intend the game to be viewed as one.
The title retells the original game's story. In the dystopian future, the best assassin of an organization called Strider is sent to eliminate the dictatorship of Grandmaster Melo who took over Earth and is now based in Kazakh City.
Strider features fast combat with the element of acrobatics. Similar to the original NES game, it is an intense side-scrolling action title. The players are free to explore Kazakh City in order to obtain new abilities and equipment. There are also several pickups scattered across the level. The pickups were intended to be found and collected rather than being temporary bonuses.
The game features three modes: Story Mode, Beacon Run, where the players have to reach multiple checkpoints as fast as possible, and Survival where players are put up against waves of enemies. The game features a ranking system and public leaderboards.
6. Satellite Reign
Satellite Reign is a real-time strategy, where you customize your team of four members and fight the tyranny of a mega-corporation called Dracogenics. The game is set in the open-world cyberpunk future, so the visuals combine dark locations with neon-highlighted spots. The gameplay depends on your soldiers’ class. You can use agents with different abilities to form a group that suits your playstyle. There are multiple ways to complete missions, whether you prefer to be stealthy or rush through enemies’ facilities.
The story takes place in a fictional City, where Dracogenics gets the full control over politics and military forces. To release the city, you become the head of a rival corporation and set attacks against Dracogenics. The goal is to overcome the evil syndicate using well-designed tactics.
Except for missions, the game pays attention to the technology development and resource management you need to provide to defeat Dracogenics. Meanwhile, the interaction between your corporation and civilians is minimal, so you don’t need to affect their attitude to you to win.
7. Trine 2
Trine 2 is the second part of multiplatform puzzle sidescroller with a heavy accent on the cooperative. Being preceded by Trine, Trine 2 features one DLC: Goblin Menace, which adds six new levels and puzzles into the game.
The player in Trine 2 has to choose between three regular classes to play: the wizard, the thief, and the knight, each one with its unique abilities and skills. Singleplayer allows the player to switch between characters while in the cooperative the figure is tied to the gamer.
Trine 2 features bright and shiny middle-aged levels with the essential elements glowing in the location. The plot itself depicts the heroes' adventures as though they've just come from a fairytale book' pages.
Compared to its predecessor, Trine 2 has acquired more favorable reception from the critics: while the first piece has got the average of 8 on the review aggregators, being criticised for lousy ending and enemies' monotony, the second one is said to have significant improvements and innovations.
8. The Red Solstice
The Red Solstice is an isometric tactical co-op survival game developed by Ironward.
In the distant future, a storm broke out on colonized Mars leaving the colonies without contact with the capital. You play as one of the marine corps sent to investigate what is going on.
The game features both singleplayer and multiplayer modes. Singleplayer serves both as a tutorial and a part of a story that continues in multiplayer.
A heavy emphasis is put on the game's class system that features 8 classes from Assault to Recon. The game offers some degree of replayability as every map's feature is randomized and an average play session lasts no longer than one hour. There is some element of RPG mechanics to the game as players are able to gain experience points. There are 25 Ranks and 10 Speciality Ranks. While ranks are an indication of a player's progress in the game, Speciality Ranks are used in order to level up a specific class. With each new Specialty Rank, there is an Attribute bonus for the player.
Different parts of the marine equipment can be replaced in order to change one's stats and customize the playstyle.
9. Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is the third game in the series that was started by Giana Sisters, a 1987 platformer. The original game was a Super Mario rip-off, but, though the new game retained many of the old mechanics (such as defeating enemies by jumping on them), there are also novel gameplay ideas.
You play as Giana, a girl who tries to rescue her sister Maria from the hands of an evil dragon Gurglewocky. Giana herself has two different personalities, a "Cutie" and a "Punk", that can be switched during the game. This change also dramatically alters the environment, allowing the player to shift between two dream worlds: one is a brightly colored garden, while other is a dark, nightmarish forest of giant mushrooms. In both worlds, the levels are nearly identical, despite the aesthetic change. But sometimes the game may demand you to switch to another world to move forward or to obtain a powerup that only exists in one of the worlds.
A definitive feature of Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is its music. The score was composed by Chris Hulsbeck, who worked with the original Giana Sisters, and metal band Machinae Supremacy. The soundtrack shifts between “traditional” and "heavy" versions of the same compositions to highlight the game's dual nature.
The game is a classic example of arcade racing shoot-em-up with a top-down camera. It tries to mimic Japanese bullet-hell games with a more casual approach. The player takes control of the buggy and joins La Resistance to prevent the Count Soap crimes and the use of stolen water. The buggy can be customized to your taste, using more than 35 upgrades.
Like the plot, the gameplay in Pressure is designed primarily for kids. This is indicated by the casual complexity, an abundance of bright colors and a specific sense of humor. Add here a variety of weapons, upgrades, and enemies; the output will be an excellent timekiller for a couple of evenings. The game features several levels of difficulty, achievements and the ability to go through a story campaign from more than 30 cards together with a friend using the capabilities of a split-screen local coop. All results are published online.

MicroHexon Research thought they had revolutionized medical technology when they invented the MicroBot, a microscopic robot specifically designed to assist the immune system in fighting a variety of health ailments. Now it is up to you to stop the biotechnical infestation before it’s too late. 40. Death Ray Manta SE
Death Ray Manta has lasers in his head
He blew up his house, now he lives in space instead.DEATH RAY MANTA
Two sticks, one fish, some flashing lights. Death Ray Manta is, quite definitely, a videogame in the purest sense. Rejigged, rebuilt, remastered for Steam in the year of our Molyneux 2015.
Death Ray Manta is a short form top down arena shooter where you blow up enemies using colourful laserbeams. You spawn in the centre of the screen, moments later the screen is filled with mines, robots, rabbits and lasers from beyond the stars. Collect space gems for a bonus and shoot everything else that you can in order to flash lights at yourself. Aim for your own personal high score. How far into fish space can you get?
32 screens of increasingly colourful and crazy laser firing mayhem from the brains behind (amongst other things) Squid Yes, Not So Octopus, SYNSO 2 and the challenge mode in Waves. Also, he's that hairy dude off the internet. You know the one.
Death Ray Manta is made with the fine assistance of Mike Daw who provided the legwarmer chic tunes and Andy White, who helped out under the hood and kept me sane. Cover art by the legendary Ste Pickford.

41. Heaven Forest - VR MMO
What is the meaning of life?
Where are we heading for and why?
It seems like an absurd and pretentious notion. Yet deep inside us these are the questions we ask.
This game aims to give the player a series of hidden clues in its world in order to lead him to ponder.
You're not alone in your journey, in fact the spirits you see in the forest are real players exploring the game with you.
The VR device is not required in order to play the game.
VIVE and Oculus are the supported devices you can use._______
You will discover that the answer to many of life's most profound questions is right within you.
Are we just complicated collections of matter moving in patterns
and obeying to impersonal laws of physics? Or are we part of a great and significant plan?
We ofter feel connected to the universe in some way that trascends the merely physical, whether it's the sense of awe when
we contemplate the sea or the sky, or the love we feel when we're close to someone we care about.
You might feel insignificant in the vastness of the cosmos, and perhaps you become alienated by thinking that your atoms
obey to impersonal laws of physics, but all in all you are personally creating the world at every moment, just by looking at it.
Is there a plan designed by a superior being? Or is it all casual?
We don't know exactly how the universe began, or if it's the only universe.
We don't know the ultimate laws of physics. We don't know how life began or how consciousness arose.
Since our mind is limited and conditioned, our eyes see only a fraction of reality.
Knowledge, like most other things in life, is never perfect.
The problem is that our observations could well be mistaken.
So, are we sure that the world we perceive with our senses is all there is? Or is there something else?
Is there something beyond the physical?
Our most direct and tangible connection to the world around us is through our senses. Though sight and touch we come to understand.
But there are times when we experience reality at a deeper level, without the intermediation of our senses. How are we to account for such experiences?
Everyone has his own story and his own vision about life and it changes over time,
but we are all connected to the whole universe.

In a stagnating technocratic society of a seemingly perfect futuristic world, a cult is born. A strong leader emerges from the crowds and steps in to rid the world of the misery that clenches the society. He brings answers – food for people’s minds – and comfort for their souls. All those seeking higher meaning within the world are accepted. They find their place within a community that fills the void they’ve recently had to cover with drugs and alcohol. But as Elion, their leader and prophet, increases his influence and power, he loses touch with reality and the ideal of salvation gradually turns against those that don’t feel the need for his guidance – the infidels.Fun concept
Using actual humans as a limiting third resource is a fun concept, and the ability to convert enemy forces directly on the battlefield gave me fond memories of Sacrifice, or Age of Empires' priests. - PC Gamer
In Re-Legion, players Follow Elion’s journey from a lone prophet to the most powerful advocate of religion in the city. Introducing a new alternative to the usual economic and resource management used in RTS games, Re-Legion allows players to convert ordinary non-believing citizens into their units – the followers. Initiated cultists then expand the cult’s possibilities by obtaining cyber-coins to enable upgrades, by praying they increase faith to gain and use special abilities, they hack buildings and ad-boards to expand and control territories, they convert other citizens or fight enemy units and non-believers.
The overall direction of the one’s cult is defined by the dogmas chosen for it. From a peaceful religion to one that despises non-believers, each one of dozens of dogmas defines the way in which the cult will pursue its goals. But whichever way you decide to choose, your followers will all work together to build a strong and powerful cult...
- Unique RTS mechanic of acquiring new units by converting citizens
- Vivid futuristic cyberpunk visuals, yet dark atmosphere
- Mature story with profound background and moral choices to be made
- Special territory control mechanics with the use of hacking
- High replay value both in singleplayer and multiplayer modes
