White environments will guide the player’s portal placement, forcing them to pay attention to the surroundings. Portal creates tension, allowing either solving puzzles at your own leisure or moving quickly, due to the time limit or threats.

7. Saints Row 2
Saints Row franchise is pretty similar to Grand Theft Auto franchise with the only exception. If GTA is more serious in its feelings than Saints Row is all about absolute madness.
After five years from the first game, the story follows the same protagonist from the first game. Three Street Saints fell apart, and now the streets are ruled by three different gangs. Player fell into a coma, and now he is in a high-security prison until his former brother from gang comes and rescues him from the prison. After rescuing one of the most valuable people for the Saints, Johnny Gat, they discuss how to revive the Saints and gain of the streets once more.
Sharing big similarities with the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Saints Row is much more ironic to the subject. Making as much fun of the possible process as possible, the player can travel in fictional Stillwater at any point as it shared an open world mechanic. Although opened from the very beginning of the game, shops and activities will be unlocked by the progress the player made. Multiplayer shares a cooperative campaign and other competitive mods.
8. Sniper Elite V2
Sniper Elite V2 is a third-person tactical shooter, the second installment in Sniper Elite series and a full-fledged remake of the first game. The game takes place during the Battle of Berlin in 1945. You play as an American military officer and skilled sniper Karl Fairburne on his mission to neutralize German scientists involved in the development of V-2 ballistic missile.
The gameplay encourages the player to kill enemies from a distance, without being noticed. Karl can have numerous different weapons, including machine guns, pistols, traps and others. However, his primary weapon is his sniper rifle. Developers intended to make shooting sniper rifle more realistic than in other games. Several elements affect shots such as the wind direction, bullet drop, and so on.
One the game’s key features is “X-Ray Kill Cam.” It activates when the player makes the skillful shot and shows the bullet trajectory, an impact it made on the enemy’s body and the damage that its organs took.
9. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is an action adventure game and a part of the vast Prince of Persia series which includes ten titles overall. Sands of Time precede it and followed by The Two Thrones
All the big titles in the series feature pretty much the same mechanics: 3D platforming with a heavy focus on the fighting elements and parkour. The game is the first in the group to have a non-linear structure with the protagonist returning to the previously visited areas and opening hidden paths with the new tools acquired along the way.
The fighting system presents wielding two weapons at a time with the latter being divided into two main categories: melee — primary weapons and throwable — secondary ones.
The events depicted in the game take place seven years after the previous game in the series — The Sands of Time. The narrative centers around the antagonism of the protagonist of The Prince and Dahaka — the mystical beast, hunting him because he released the Sands of Time in the previous installment.
The game features two endings: a canonical "good" one the storyline of which is transferred in the next chapter of The Prince's journey and the "bad" one. The difference lies in the Water Sword achievable through gathering all the collectibles for upgrading the life meter.
10. The Sims 3
The Sims 3 is the third part of its series. Like all Sims game, it allows the player to control the life of a person or even a whole family.
Before the main game starts, the player has to create his or her character, called sim. The player can choose to play as a single character or a family. The game allows full customization for each sim. The player chooses their gender, age, race, and body type, as well as their traits that influence the sim's in-game behavior. The traits help sims to learn new skills that will be useful in their job and social life. The player can also choose to set all settings to random. There are also settings that define if the sims will age, and how fast.
The game introduces the open world that lives on its own even when the player doesn't interfere. Unlike in Sims 2, the world is seamless and there's no long load time when you travel it. The sims themselves became more independent and require less player attention to stay alive. Sims 3 is less oriented towards "tamagotchi"-like life-sustaining and more towards actually living the sims' lives, such as going to work, attending parties, making friends and flirting. The sims will occasionally have wishes, and fulfilling them earns the character more happiness points.
The building mode didn't change much since Sims 2, but the game introduced a few additional options. Most notably, elements don't have to be aligned to a grid anymore. The player can place them diagonally at any angle.

14. Red Faction
The series of video games, known for the destructiveness of virtual environments. The action takes place at the end of the 21st century. Humanity has colonized Mars and now is extracting minerals that are no longer available on Earth. The player takes control over the miner who goes by the name Parker, and who helps rebel forces with the uprising against the evil Ultor Corporation. The latter is entirely out of hand and violates the fundamental human rights: does not provide workers food and medicine and treats miners as slaves.
The main game mechanics is the GeoMod technology, which allows players to extensively change the virtual environment. For example, with the help of explosives or other improvised instruments. Unavailable earlier freedom of action allowы players to complete levels non-linearly, and change them beyond recognition. The version for the PC included an additional level of Glass House, in which GeoMod's capabilities could be used in full, and a multiplayer with 25 maps.
15. Orcs Must Die! Unchained
Orcs Must Die! Unchained is a tower defense action game where you not only set different traps to prevent enemies from destroying your base but also fight them directly. Unchained is the third installment in the series, that includes Orcs Must Die! and Orcs Must Die! 2.
The core gameplay in Unchained doesn’t differ from its predecessors, mixing classical tower defense features with elements of a hack and slash game. To buy and upgrade your traps you can use both in-game currency you get from matches and real money.
However, Unchained introduced two new modes to the franchise. The game puts a heavy focus on cooperative playthrough in its Survival mode. It doesn’t differ much from the single-player mode, as you need to protect the base from a certain amount of enemy waves. But here you work together with other players and need to unite your actions to be more efficient. Another new mode is Sabotage. Here you compete with the second team, killing enemies. The team that survives the most waves wins; you can prevent your opponents from the victory, summoning monsters and ruining their traps.
16. The Council

The Council begins in 1793, with players taking the role of secret society member Louis de Richet after his invitation to a private island off the shores of England by the enigmatic Lord Mortimer. Joining him are a number of high profile guests, including Napoleon Bonaparte and President of the newly-formed United States of America, George Washington. The strange nature of this private reception goes beyond just the prestigious guests –Richet’s own mother has recently gone missing on the island, while each and every one of the colorful cast seems to have their own hidden agendas.
In a new twist for the genre, the core of The Council’s gameplay comes from manipulating and maneuvering through character encounters using the unique Social Influence system. During confrontations, skills and limited resources can be used to gain the upper hand and achieve the desired outcome. Players will be rewarded for their knowledge of each character’s psychological vulnerabilities and immunities, as well as their preparations made during prior exploration and investigation. Failing an encounter does not mean ‘game over’, and no action can be taken back. The consequences are permanent, and may result in persistent physical disfigurements or mental traits that help or hinder the rest of the player’s adventure.
Richet’s numerous skills can be developed to align with your chosen approach to the adventure. Solve issues with diplomacy, delve into occultism to expand your historical and scientific knowledge, or play detective and see what others do not perceive. Your skills will have uses that extend far beyond your conversations with fellow guests. With 15 diverse skills to use and invest in, players are free to uncover The Council’s mysteries how they see fit, with wildly varying consequences depending on their methods. Ziggurat is an indie first-person adventure dungeon crawling game developed by Milkstone Studios.
The game was heavily inspired by Heretic and Hexen, which are considered classic first-person shooters. You play as a sorcerer who seeks fame. He enters a mysterious labyrinth and faces all the dangers of an ancient dungeon.
The game revolves around fast-paced and action-packed first-person shooting classical mechanics. Several roguelike elements were also added into the mix which resulted in a completely different addition to the genre. The levels are procedurally generated so that every playthrough will be different. Leveling up and improving your skills is a must in order to survive countless enemy encounters.
A perk system is also present in the game. Most of the perks featured in the game are designed for the players to create their own play style. The choice between the perks was purposely made simple. For example, the players have to choose between increased movement speed at the expanse of lower health or mana regeneration.
There is no inventory present in the game as it was streamlined in order to increase the gameplay speed. Instead of that, all the players have to manage is the comparison of several items, weapon selection, and the amount of mana and health.

The game’s narrative takes place a year after the first game. The main character, an elusive thief Garrett, is tasked with resolving a crisis brewing in the metropolitan City. Different factions fight for influence and schemes are put into action to undermine each other’s plans. As the story progresses, the protagonist finds more clues about the mysterious prophecy that tells about the end of humanity and risks his own life to prevent it from fulfilling.
The game heavily emphasizes discreteness and stealth, as the guards of the City may often try to stop the main character. Visibility and sounds play a crucial role in completing different tasks, and utilizing the surroundings can help get rid of enemies without confrontation. Different gadgets can be used to mask the sounds, obtain enemy’s location, and snuff out the lights. However, the playable character can still use his weapons to get rid of pursuers, but on higher levels of difficulty, doing so ends up in defeat and the need to restart the mission.
Visuals and features
As with its predecessor, Thief II employs a refined AI system, where enemies can notice sudden changes in the environment and react correspondingly. The lighting and shadowing have also been revamped, albeit keeping the same noir mood to the locations. The graphics of the game are awe-inspiring for its year of release, as each texture is highly detailed, and physics are made to be life-comparable realistic.

The game features a sophisticated movement system that allows for diving, flipping, and sliding. The game is heavily inspired by the classic action flicks, such as The Matrix, and movies by John Woo.
Double Action is a third-person shooter which revolves around fast-paced combat and fluid movement, which can be found in Max Payne. Influenced by Max Payne, the game features the bullet time system which slows down the in-game passage of time that helps the players land much more precise shots.
The objective in the match of the game is to become the most stylish player with the highest number of style points. The style points are awarded for killing enemies while diving, doing flips, attempting slides and attempting such tricks. Slow-motion seconds are also awarded for stylish gameplay.
The game does not feature objective-driven matches, yet from time to time a special objective may be activated, such as Capture the Briefcase, Kill the Wanted One, Race to the Finish. Should a player complete the special objective, they are allowed to execute a special style move that acts as all the style moves combined. That adds a whole another layer to the gameplay.

31. STAR WARS Jedi Knight - Mysteries of the Sith
As a full-fledged expansion of the Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 changes several things, one of which is ignoring the ending of the dark side. As a direct story continuation, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith picks the story from the light ending, and players meet the protagonist of the previous game, Kyle Katarn, in the role of the Jedi Master training Mara Jade. After the introduction, where Katarn defends the New Republic outpost from the imperial troops, players will control the apprentice, Jade, on her mission to find a Sith temple.
SWJK: Mysteries of the Sith is a first-person shooter with a possibility to switch to the third person view. Unlike the original game, players don’t have the moral choice system, because the single-player story has a single positive route. The game has 14 levels as a story campaigns as well as 15 maps for multiplayer battles. As a Jedi apprentice, Jade will have not only to the ranged weapons, like blasters but lightsabers and force powers. But in multiplayer, that supports up to eight players to fight as the characters from the Star Wars films.
32. Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse
Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse is a point-and-click adventure game developed by Revolution Software. It was funded through Kickstarter.
On an art exhibition in a modern-day Paris, a criminal disguised as a pizza boy shoots the art galleries owner and steals the painting that was captured by fascists in Catalonia in 1937. George and Nico accidentally meet each other and begin the investigation of this event.
Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse is a 2-dimensional game that is, unexpectedly, features a third-person camera. Like in the previous titles of the series, the game still relies on its point and click user interface. In order to bring something new into the gameplay, Revolution Software added crafting into the game. Crafting allows creating new items that are essential to progress further into the game's levels.
Like in the previous game, Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse relies on its hotspot system. There are special spots scattered across the levels. When the players stand right on them, several actions will become available for them.
Character death scenes are back again. It is possible to die if the players react too slow on something or make a wrong decision. The players do not start off the last checkpoint after death. Instead, the players spawn right before their death scene.
33. Freedom Fighters
Freedom Fighters is an action-shooter game developed by IO Interactive. It came out on 26-09-2003. Electronic Arts published the game. The game is rated as "Exceptional" on RAWG.

34. Penumbra: Black Plague Gold Edition
Penumbra: Black Plague Gold Edition is a survival horror puzzle game developed by Frictional Games. It is a bundle of the second and the third games of the series.
The game begins with Phillip sending out an e-mail to his friend begging to end the thing he started. All the events after that scene are Philips flashbacks.
After the ending scene of the first game, where Philip got knocked out by an unknown man, he awakes in a locked room which he escapes through a vent. It is revealed that the mines that led the main character to where he is now are just a cover-up for a secret research base stationed in Greenland. The complex is deserted, all of its employees are dead or turned into mutants. Philips has to find a way out.
The gameplay has not changed since the first game. Black Plague is still a first-person survival horror, yet it puts more focus on the horror aspect of the game. Most of the quests present in the game were cut down and replaced by the item search puzzles.
There is no combat system present in the game. The players have to either run away from their enemies or stick to the shadows. It is impossible to stop the enemies, as they can break down doors. Throwing crates at the enemies does not help much, as they are only distracted by that for a few seconds.
Gold Edition features
The only feature of the Gold Edition is the addition of the third Penumbra game, Requiem.
35. Dustforce DX
Dustforce DX is the updated version of Dustforce, a platformer game where you need to clean up the world of dust. DX update added new maps and music. The tutorial was also redesigned to be friendlier to newcomers. In fact, DX version extends the game’s audience from a very hardcore to the medium one, giving more time to master the gameplay.
As a part of a four-member team (with AI teammates or in co-op with real players) you go through levels cleaning them and fighting monsters you meet. There are four playable characters in Dustforce, however, they differ only in the appearance with slight stats’ changing.
The goal of the game is to reach the other side of every level and kill enemies there. You can perform different moves, featuring jumping, climbing walls, several attacks and so on. The game places a heavy focus on timing so overcoming numerous obstacles become very challenging.
36. Portal 2 Sixense Perceptual Pack
Portal 2 Sixense Perceptual Pack is a standalone expansion pack for Portal 2 developed by Valve. It is mainly focused on the developers that are using the Intel Perceptual Computing SDK and a Senz3D depth camera. The camera is required to play the title.
The game features no plot whatsoever as it was developed as testing grounds for Intel's technology.
The core gameplay is the same as in the vanilla Portal 2 game. The players pass testing chambers using an Aperture Science Portal Device. This device creates two portals: blue and orange, which can be passed through by the players freely. The Portal Gun can also lift objects with its integrated gravity module.
The objective of the player is to reach the exit of the testing chamber by solving an environmental puzzle. For example, the door must be opened with a button that is triggered by a heavy crate. The players have to reach the crate first and somehow get in on the button for the door to open.
With each level, the difficulty of the environmental puzzles rises a bit with the addition of new elements and the increasing size of the chambers.
There are seven maps present in this map pack, specifically made for the use of the Senz3D camera.
Sixense is a technology, that is developed by Intel. It allows the players to interact with the in-game objects using a special depth and gesture camera that is communicating with the game through a special API.

43. Ion Fury
While Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison earned her codename defusing bombs for the Global Defense Force, when evil transhumanist mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes the members of his cybernetic cult onto the streets of Neo DC, she knows it’s time to start causing explosions instead of preventing them.
Her quest to slay Heskel leaves a trail of carnage throughout huge, multi-path levels filled with gigantic explosions, more secret areas than we can count, and inhuman foes behind every corner. There’s no regenerating health here; stop taking cover and start running and gunning.
Shelly’s crusade to take down Heskel’s army will see her leave destruction in her wake with a wide arsenal of weapons, complete with alternate fire modes and different ammo types. Her signature revolver, the tri-barreled Loverboy, brings enemies pain and players pleasure with both single shots and Old West-style hammer fanning action. Who needs a regular shotgun when you can load buckshot into your grenade launcher? Violent, over-the-top Bowling Bombs rip enemies apart with ease.
