1. Crazy Taxi (1999)
Crazy Taxi is the renewed version of arcade machine title of the same name that was released in 1999. It’s a taxi driver simulator. The goal of the game is to deliver passengers to their destinations, performing numerous tricks. The game also features 16 mini-games.
Crazy Taxi follows the classic mechanics of score games: you need to get from a passenger as much money as possible. In the beginning you can choose a driver and a car; their stats are quite similar with slight differences in speed and turning. To raise your tips you need to reach the destination on time. To earn extra money you can perform multiple tricks, including drifts, jumps, near-misses, and combos of these moves.
Driving through the city isn’t that easy as it seems to be. There are numerous obstacles in your way, such as frustratingly slowly buses, that make you take risks during your maneuvers on the road. Moreover, the amount of potential passengers is limited: once you pick up a person, it’s unavailable for the rest of the game.
2. Forza Motorsport 5
Forza is a long-running series of racing game that took a standard formula and adds several personal touches. Realistic and bright car designs, energetic soundtrack, and racetracks that will test the driving skill of every player.
Forza 5 was brought to the players with 200 different cars from more than 50 manufacturers and brands, and after the initial release, there were eight monthly car packs. Each of them consisted of 10 cars and could be purchased as DLC. Each car can be individually upgraded and purchased from the main menu.
Soundtrack took a turn from the licensed songs, creating an original orchestral score, mixed with a previously established in the series ambient electronic sounds. More than 2 hours of original music, released and distributed digitally.
Most racing tracks in Forza are a detailed representation of real-life locations or transferred fictional tracks from previous titles of the franchise. One of the tracks is a recreation of a Top Gear test track after the promotional Xbox One reveals by the cast of Top Gear.
Platform: Xbox One
3. SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED
Shift 2: Unleashed (Unleashed) Need for Speed: Shift. The sequel expands on many aspects that were introduced in the original.
The game offers 148 cars from 36 manufacturers and 35 different tracks on which players can compete in several types of races.
The game is not overloaded with plot details, not directly related to car racing. The main character is a novice racer who wants to become a champion - and that’s it!
The same approach is seen in many other characteristics of the game. In particular, in the organization of management and in the system of admission to the following levels. Much has been done in these things easier than one might have expected. At the same time, the game is a full-fledged car racing simulator - you need to control different cars in different ways, in full dependence on engine power, front or rear wheel drive, as well as on tuned systems installed on the car, parts and corresponding settings. Even one detail can significantly change the ride.
The creators of the game emphasize the difference between arcade type games and car simulators - and refer Shift 2: Unleashed to the genre of realistic car simulators. This is a game about real life.
In contrast to the realistic movement of cars, the racetracks in the game do not always repeat their real prototypes. However, all changes in the configuration of the tracks are undertaken in order to make the game more interesting.
Among the main innovations of the game are: an in-helmet camera, a hot dog.
'Helmet-camera' - allowing you to observe the game through the eyes of a car pilot. The image of this camera, respectively, is completely dependent on the movement of the pilot's head during the race. The camera shakes, tilts when cornering, jerks forward in collisions. And if the car goes at high speeds, the image of the camera simulates the blurring of the field of view, typical of the human vision in similar situations. Finally, if the car and the pilot get into such an accident, in which the camera should break, it breaks and the player’s point of view returns to normal observation.
Hey, it’s not a bad idea. champion.
In the career mode, players learn driving skills from reputable teachers, with a total of about ten world-class instructors in the game.
For example, Vaughn Gittin, a Formula D Champion talks about the career of a pilot in general, how to customize the car, Autolog, teaches how to drift.
4. Gran Turismo 5
Gran Turismo 5 is the fifth part of the Gran Turismo series.
The games of the series are known for a detailed imitation of driving real cars. Each machine in the game is controlled and even sounds like its real prototype.
In addition to the characteristics of each model of the car, tuning is possible in the game. Tuning, as well as the acquisition of more and more powerful cars, becomes available as a result of victories in races, obtaining prize money and improving the skill of the driver. The upgrades acquired in the tuning process are as realistic as the basic qualities of the car.
Many of the car systems that can be tuned in real life can be customized in the game - and the consequences for the behavior of the car in the game will also be shown very realistically. For example, suspension settings affect handling.
The main mode of the game is arcade. But there is also a simulation mode that conducts the player through a series of races, constantly complicating the conditions and giving the player a chance to smoothly master the game, increase skill, earn game money for increasing the number of cars and other needs.
In Gran Turismo 5 there are 1031 cars, 26 locations and 71 variations of tracks. In addition, for the first time the editor of the tracks appeared in the game.
Platform: PlayStation 3
5. Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit
Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit, released as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit in Europe, is a racing video game released in 1998. It is the third major installment in the Need for Speed series, significantly incorporating police pursuits as a major part of gameplay. Hot Pursuit remains focused in racing using exotic sports cars, but features races that primarily take place in locations within North America, including varied settings and climates. In addition, police AI is significantly improved over its predecessor, utilizing several tactics to stop both the player and opponent. The game was released for PlayStation in March 1998 and later received an enhanced port for Microsoft Windows in October 1998. A PlayStation 2 version was developed, but later cancelled. The game title's suffix, "Hot Pursuit", is a term for a police pursuit. The game had a sequel that was released in 2002 as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2.
6. WipEout HD
WipEout HD is a sci-fi arcade racing game developed by Sony Studio Liverpool.
The players use the futuristic anti-gravitational vehicles and participate in the FX350 anti-grav racing league. The game features all the previous tracks and vehicles from Wipeout Pure and Wipeout Pulse, which were released on the PlayStation Portable.
WipEout HD is not a remastered game in a common meaning. It is more of a spiritual successor of the core mechanics that were introduced to the public in the previous installments of the series.
Five modes are present in the game: a standard race, a Tournament mode, Time trials, Speed laps, and Zone Mode, where the players have to avoid crashing while their vehicle speeds up more and more. A photo mode is also available to the players. Photo mode is available at any point during gameplay, as it freezes the race the player participates in at the moment, allows to change camera position, and change exposure, lens focus or add depth of field.
The ships in the game feature four base stats: speed, acceleration, maneuverability, and shield strength. During gameplay, the players are able to pick up offensive or defensive weapons. Every weapon featured in the game was featured in the previous installment. For example, machine guns, missiles, landmines and so on.
Fury expansion pack
Fury expansion pack was released a year after the base game release. It featured eight tracks, 13 new vehicles, three game modes, and a new revamped campaign mode.
Platform: PlayStation 3

8. RaceRoom Racing Experience
RaceRoom Racing Experience is a free-to-play racing simulator. It houses official race series such as DTM, WTCC and ADAC GT Masters, but to get access to all content players are bond to excruciating grind. It can be avoided by paying for each little piece in the in-game currency that players purchase for the real money.
Simulation in this game is on the point: developers worked with real racecar drivers to fine-tune the small details such as tyre modelling and suspension physics. You can compete using with bots in singleplayer sessions and fight real racers during multiplayer ones on 25 real-world tracks. The park of cars consists of major brands: BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Chevrolet, Ford, McLaren, Pagani, RUF, Radical, Volvo, Saleen and developers plan to enlarge it. To properly feel the speed players might need a gaming wheel: the game still supports all kinds of inputs, but the most compelling experience is with the wheel.
9. Rock n' Roll Racing
Rock n' Roll Racing is a vehicular combat-based racing video game developed by Silicon & Synapse (now known as Blizzard Entertainment) and published by Interplay Productions for the Mega Drive/Genesis and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993. The game prominently features a number of popular heavy metal and rock songs in its soundtrack, hence the game's title. The game was ported to the Game Boy Advance in 2003.
Rock n' Roll Racing was initially developed as RPMII, a sequel to the company's SNES game RPM Racing. At the end of the project, Interplay marketing added licensed music and changed the name to Rock n' Roll Racing. It is also similar in gameplay to Racing Destruction Set where it got its logic/AI engine and the NES game R.C. Pro-Am developed by Rare in 1988.

10. Street Racing Syndicate
Street Racing Syndicate is a game about underground street racing. The player's goal is not only to win races, but also to become famous and attract girls.
Street Racing Syndicate offers a variety of modes. Street Mode is the traditional career option. The player starts as a newcomer who was hired by a sponsor to win a race. Victories grant the player money to purchase better cars. There are also Roll Up Races, in which a random car challenges the player to a race. Another type of races is Respect Challenges, in which the player has to earn respect to attract women. There's a multiplayer mode that only allows two players.
When not at a race, the player can navigate through a city map to visit important places. Among them is Garage that stores the player's cars, Warehouse that allows buying spare parts, and Showroom, where the player can obtain new vehicles. Street Racing Syndicate includes 50 cars from the famous manufacturers such as Mitsubishi, Subaru, and Volkswagen. There are many options for upgrading and customizing cars. The player can buy a regular ride and make it unique.
The game features a distinct "neon" aesthetics. Most races are set in the seaside US regions like Florida and California, and often take place at night, in the background of a big city. RIDE lets you choose from a vast range of gear from the leading specialist clothing manufacturers, allowing you to personalise your rider from top to toe: choose from over 100 items and 400 colour schemes!
Your bike is completely customisable, in accordance with two component categories: appearance and performance. These are just some of the components that you can customize choosing from a catalogue of more than 100 parts.
RIDE features 15 different circuits in the various locations where the Motorcycle Festivals of the World Tour take place.
Country Tracks: mountain passes, countryside, and natural parks, faithfully reproduced from the real world.

GP Tracks: actual racetracks, chosen to enhance the sensations of riding in the seat of the bike, and being able to push it right to the edge.
The renewed Evolving Track System means that the track evolves lap after lap, guaranteeing improved grip along the rubbered-in ideal trajectory as it gets darker and darker as more bikes pass over it. F-Zero Maximum Velocity, released in Japan as F-Zero for Game Boy Advance, is a futuristic racing video game developed by Nd Cube and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. The game was released in Japan, North America and Europe in 2001. It is the first F-Zero game to be released on a handheld game console.
Maximum Velocity takes place twenty-five years after F-Zero, in yet another F-Zero Grand Prix. The past generations of F-Zero had "piloted their way to fame", so it is the only F-Zero game without Captain Falcon, Samurai Goroh, Pico, or Dr. Stewart. 45. Virtua Racing
Virtua Racing or V.R. for short, is a Formula One racing arcade game, developed by Sega AM2 and released in 1992. Virtua Racing was initially a proof-of-concept application for exercising a new 3D-graphics platform under development, the "Model 1". The results were so encouraging, that Virtua Racing was fully developed into a standalone arcade title. Though its use of 3D polygonal graphics was predated by arcade rivals Namco (Winning Run in 1988) and Atari (Hard Drivin' in 1989), Virtua Racing had vastly improved visuals in terms of polygon count, frame rate, and overall scene complexity, and displayed multiple camera angles and 3D human non-player characters, which all contributed to a greater sense of immersion. Virtua Racing is regarded as one of the most influential video games of all time, for laying the foundations for subsequent 3D racing games and for popularizing 3D polygonal graphics among a wider audience.
The original arcade game has three levels, designated into difficulties. Beginner is "Big Forest", intermediate is "Bay Bridge" and expert is "Acropolis". Each level has its own special feature, for example the amusement park in "Big Forest", or the "Bay Bridge" itself, or the tight hairpin of "Acropolis".
When selecting a car, the player can choose different transmission types. VR introduced the "V.R. View System" by allowing the player to choose one of four views to play the game. This feature was then used in most other Sega arcade racing games (and is mentioned as a feature in the attract mode of games such as Daytona USA). It was later ported to home consoles, starting with the Mega Drive/Genesis in 1994.

46. Ridge Racer Revolution
Ridge Racer Revolution is an arcade racing game developed and published by Namco for the PlayStation in 1995. It is the PlayStation sequel of Ridge Racer (the arcade sequel is Ridge Racer 2). Like the original Ridge Racer, the player races computer-controlled cars with the objective of winning a series of races, and supports Namco's NeGcon controller. Ridge Racer Revolution adds two hidden cars, and two-player support via the PlayStation Link cable, and took roughly the same time to develop as the first. The intention was to increase the depth and add features.
The game borrows most of its soundtrack from Ridge Racer 2. Ridge Racer Revolution was re-released in Japan for the PlayStation The Best range in June 1997, and for the Platinum Range in PAL regions the following year. The game received generally positive reviews, although some criticised its similarity to the original. Ridge Racer Revolution was followed by a sequel, Rage Racer, in 1996.
