11. Magicka

Magicka is a fun franchise. Based on Scandinavian mythology, we follow a story of four mages that have formed an order to protect Midgard from a warlock. Yet this warlock is just a pawn in the greater game of a demon Assatur, who wants to destroy wants to destroy the homeland of the mages. The game gives few nods towards some other known franchises as Warhammer, Warcraft or even Star Wars.

Gaming process is very complicated. Having no character class as it is, every mage can create his unique combinations from eight different types of magic - water, life, shield, cold, lightning, arcane, earth and fire. Some of them are not compatible such as fire and cold because of their opposing nature, but the game deeply explores the way to create a unique gameplay-style based on your preference. Around the world, you can find magickas - scrolls that contain new spells and magic. Supporting up to four players at the same time it is a very fun game despite having loads of technical issues, like bugs and other problems.

14. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

This post-apocalyptic game that spawned the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise is inspired by (but not really based on) the 'Roadside Picnic' novel by brothers Strugatsky and Tarkovsky's movie 'Stalker', borrowing some of the terms and aesthetics from both. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is set in Ukraine, in the infamous Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Several parts of the open-world setting were modeled after the real Chernobyl surroundings, including the power plant and the city of Pripyat, although designers took some liberties. The bleak environment and dark ambient music help to create an unsettling atmosphere of this place.
According to the backstory, in 2006, the second Chernobyl disaster occurred, turning the surrounding area into post-apocalyptic ruins, full of grotesque mutants and time-space anomalies. The "stalkers" in this world are the explorers who wander The Zone in search of valuable loot. You play as the Marked One, a stalker who lost his memory. All that remains of his past is a memo that says “Kill Strelok”. The Marked One will have to learn more about himself, Strelok, The Zone, and its mysteries. The plot is non-linear, and there are multiple endings that depend on the quests you completed earlier.

15. Dragon Age 2

Dragon Age II is the second part of the Dragon Age series of dark fantasy games. The series is inspired by the classic Bioware RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, and some of the game’s writers have previously worked on these titles.

Plot

Dragon Age II is set in the medieval world of Thedas, inhabited by mythological races like elves and dwarves. This high fantasy setting has a definitive "Dark Ages" atmosphere. The game continues the plot of Dragon Age: Origins, and the player can choose which ending of the original game to use as a backstory. The player assumes the role of a protagonist named Hawke. He or she is a human who had to flee from an invasion of the monsters called Darkspawns. Over the course of the game, Hawke eventually rises to power and influences the fate of the whole Thedas.

Gameplay

The main protagonist is fully customizable. The player can choose his or her first name, gender, appearance and character class. There are three classes available: mage, warrior, and rogue. The player controls not only Hawke but also his or her party that can include up to three companions at once. You can only control one character at a time, however, switching between them while leaving the rest to AI control.

Dragon Age II introduced the dialogue wheel that was borrowed from the Mass Effect series. Dialogue options usually have a tone that defines how other characters perceive each line and, eventually, the protagonist's personality.

16. Resident Evil

Resident Evil is an HD remastered version of the 2002 original survival horror game’s remake. This version features improved graphics, full support of high-definition displays and many more visual overhauls while keeping the gameplay features mostly intact.
The story of the game follows two Special Forces agents through a city full of nightmarish enemies, with different puzzles and challenges set upon the player, and an ultimate goal of revealing the mystery of the catastrophe that occurred in the Raccoon City. Each of the two selectable characters has their unique abilities, which gradually affects gameplay, as some locations would only be accessible with only one character.
The game is the ‘founding father’ of the survival horror genre, and it is seen through the ambient soundtrack, which stresses the player even more, apart from limited ammunition and far outnumbering enemies. Different approaches must be chosen, as the game’s save points are scarce, and the characters may meet their demise at the nearest corner.

The player is not fully identified with the main character, and if Boss is shot down, the player can order his comrades to revive him or to continue on with the mission. The level is only considered failed if the whole Delta Squad is down.
The plot revolves around the Clone Wars that was fought between movie Episodes II and III. The Delta Squad fights against the Separatist forces on the various planets, among them Geonosis and the Wookie homeland Kashyyk. The Amazon can inflict damage to several enemies at the same time, wielding a two-handed sword or just hands.

The Wizard is a spell master.

The Elf is a master of bows and arrows, deadly in long-distance combat.

The Dwarf is very strong, carries one weapon in each hand, can pick up and throw various objects, even enemies.

The Sorceress is weak physically, but she can create food with magic, control skeletons, and turn enemies into harmless frogs.

Gameplay, beat ‘em up and trophies

The combat system allows you to add simple movements in crushing combinations. The role of high-quality equipment in the game is also very large, the search for opportunities to improve it is no less important than the battle with enemies.

To get as many trophies as possible, the hero is accompanied by two satellites cracker Ranni and Tiki the fairy.

Ranni helps to open chests in which various treasures lie: swords, axes, bows, belts, armor, amulets and much more. You can’t put them on right away - first they need to be identified in the city, or immediately sold.

Tiki the fairy allows you to activate the glyphs engraved on the walls. With proper activation of the glyphs, the player receives bonuses - a temporary invulnerability or a healing ring.

27. Call of Juarez

Call of Juarez is an epic adventure western themed FPS game. The player alternately assumes the roles of two distinct, antagonistic characters: a sneaking fugitive Billy and his hunter the reverend Ray. Apart from the highly interesting, emotional and psychological aspect of the link between the two characters, the player will experience a variety of gameplay with many differences whilst playing a particular character.
The game features fast paced revolver duels using historically accurate firearms, horseback riding, mounted combat and stealth actions in memorable locations set after Western movies. • The use of physics and innovative simulation of fire, liquids, dust, smokes and gases to construct emergent gameplay
  • State of the art graphics making use of the top technology graphics cards features on todays cards.

31. War of the Roses

War of the Roses is a multiplayer medieval-themed hack and slash game. It follows the events of the Wars of the Roses that took place in England during the 15th century. However, the game doesn’t provide any plot, focusing on battles.

The key feature of the title’s gameplay is its realism. The game combines realistic melee combat mechanics with the development system. To be efficient in fights you need to perform certain moves: attacks, dodges and counter-attacks. For killing enemies you will get money and experience points to upgrade your character’s skills and weapons. If you’re killed during the battle, you can choose the place is respawn yourself.

War of the Roses features numerous maps and several game modes including a deathmatch, a pitched battle where you have the only life, and the assault mode to capture the opponent’s checkpoints.

33. Avencast: Rise of the Mage

Avencast: Rise of the Mage is an action RPG game developed by ClockStone Software. The game combines the elements of a beat-em-up, quest and puzzle games.

Plot

A young mage is brought up by an old wizard and is sent to Avencast wizardry academy. To complete his final exam, the mage has to go to a forest and find his own crystal. Upon returning back to the academy, it is revealed that Avencast fell under attack. The monsters roam the halls of the academy, while a few survivors barricade themselves deep in the academy. The mage has to save Avencast and figure out why was it attacked in the first place.

Gameplay

The main action in the game is killing enemies. It can be done in two ways: using magic spells or physically attacking them. Should the player choose the first method, they'll have to figure out the complex magic system.

The magic system consists of three branches: force spells (used for close quarters combat), wisdom spells (long range combat), and summon spells (used for summoning pets and comrades). The activation of every spell is made with the press of three buttons.

After killing an enemy, the players are awarded experience points which are used to level up your character. After leveling up, 10 points are given to the player, that can be used to upgrade the character stats or to buy new spells. The players can loot Avencast to find potions, notes, new armor or clothing.

Onechanbara Z2: Chaos is the latest entry in the Onechanbara series. The Vampiric sisters and two legendary zombie-hunting sisters of Baneful blood battle through over a dozen stages of high-octane real-time swordplay.
